If We Were Having Coffee: Room Reveals

If We Were Having Coffee 05

It’s been awhile since I’ve written one of these posts once again. A lot has just happened since the last time, and I just didn’t have the chance to share everything with you. We painted our whole upstairs, which took roughly two weekends to do because of me having to go to work. We also had our carpeting upstairs because it was starting to look outdated. Then, my older sister moved back home last weekend so I was busy because of that too.

But like I promised, I’m going to share the room colors for me and my sister’s rooms. I’m sure you’re interested to see how they turned out.

Painted Room Laneys Room

For my sister’s room, which no longer has the desk because it’s been moved into my room, we chose a dark green that she and Mum both liked. Originally, Mum had picked this pistachio green color that she thought would brighten up the room. But it didn’t turn out quite the way she expected so she talked to my sister and they both agreed on this color.  I actually like this color in my sister’s room because the way she has it looks really nice.

Now for my room, I chose blue! A blue that when I look at it reminds me of both the sky and ocean. The blue I picked isn’t quite as light as the pictures make it out to look, but it looks really nice with our new carpeting, which can be seen in the first picture.

Along with painting and carpeting, my room is now completely rearranged. We’ve moved a lot of my belongings around to give me more space, and it turned out splendidly. I have my bookshelves and television on one wall and my bed is now close to the window so that I can have cool air blowing on me. I also have the computer and desk that was once in my sister’s room since I no longer have my laptop, which allows me easy access to it whenever I want. Everything else is tucked away, either in my one big dresser or in one of my closets. Overall though, I’m really enjoying my room. It feels completely new and more adult and gives me more space than I expected to have.

If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you besides doing a room reveal, I’ve been doing a lot of other things too. Like usual, work has done nothing but keep me busy. My other job is supposed to be starting back up soon. But I’m hoping to get more hours at my new job so I don’t have to go back there again. I’ve also started rereading one of my favorite trilogies, which I wrote a blog post about a couple weeks ago along with started to watch Pretty Little Liars, which has been quite a pleasure to enjoy. I’ve also been listening to this podcast I heard about through one of the bloggers I follow called What Should I Read Next? which I’m debating about doing a review of. It’s something different from what I normally write about here, but it still has to do with books, which is why I’m really considering it. But I haven’t made up my mind just yet if I’m going to do that or not.

I’ve also ordered a couple books and eclipse glasses from Amazon, both of which have already come in the mail. The solar eclipse is supposed to be coming here on August 21st, so I needed to get glasses to make sure I can view it safely. The books, however, I bought for my own reading pleasure for in the future. What books I’ve bought I’m not going to say because I don’t want to spoil it for you. But after I’m done reading the trilogy I’m enjoying, these books will be the next ones I’m going to read and write reviews about once I’ve completed them.

I’d also tell you I’m finally doing something I probably should’ve done years ago: learning how to drive. A friend of mine had me get behind the wheel the other day and back out of where he parked only to drive forward and have me park somewhere else. The main reason I haven’t tried to learn to drive sooner is because the thought of it scares me. I don’t necessarily know what about driving scares me, it just does in a way I can’t explain. The only thing I can say is that I have a bad feeling about it for some reason. But I’m finally taking the steps to learn it anyway to the point where I’ve downloaded the manual that I need to read before I take the permit test. While I’m still nervous about the whole thing, I’m going to try the best I can anyway to be the best driver I can be.

Other than that, I haven’t done too much else. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. I would love to hear all about it.

If We Were Having Coffee: Sorry for the Long Absence

Coffee cup and book on the table in the morning

Good day everyone! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. I know I’ve been pretty absent from my blog these past couple weeks. I’ve had a lot going on in my house that’s resulted in me being away from writing on here for a little while. But I’ve also been adjusting to my new work schedule too. However, I’m going to try the best I can from here on out to write more frequently. After all, July is the month I started my blog two years ago (July 28, 2015) with my first book review of Phenomenal: A Hesitant Adventurer’s Search for Wonder in the Natural World. So you’ll definitely be seeing more posts from me in the near future, that’s for sure.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve had a lot going on. We’ve been making some changes to our house, such as having our upstairs trim painted white, outlets changed so that when we plug things in, our cords won’t fall out, and having an AC unit put in my bedroom because it gets really hot in there. We are also talking about painting me and my sister’s bedrooms to make them look the way we want. It’s kept me pretty busy doing things like go through my clothes to see if there’s anything I want to get rid of and rearranging drawers to make more space and keep my room organized.

I’ve also been having an inner emotional battle with myself lately. It’s because something happened this week that’s made me realize how careful I truly need to be in who I trust. I don’t feel like necessarily talking about it just yet because I’m still dealing with it emotionally and the whole thing makes me sick to my stomach to think about. This is all I’m going to say about it for now though because I’d much rather be talking about happier things. Just know I’ll be alright eventually and that once I’m ready to talk about it I will.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you my sister is moving back home very soon. When she was home for Memorial weekend, she had a job interview for a job in her field and she’s been offered the position. That’s the other reason Mum wants to paint both our rooms. So that when she moves back home, both our rooms are already painted and she doesn’t have to move as much stuff to do it. She’s also going to have our carpeting upstairs replaced so that all of our rooms upstairs (except the bathroom) have the same carpet. It’s going to be nice to see my sister again and to have her back at home. I’ve missed having her around so it’s going to be nice to have her here.

I’ve also been watching more YouTube videos and recently started reading one of my favorite books that started me into wanting to be a writer Inkheart, which is actually the first book in a trilogy. Once I’ve finished rereading these books, I’m probably going to do a blog post about the trilogy, which I’m still trying to work on now.

That’s pretty much it, right now. I’m really excited to see how the color I’ve picked out is going to look in my room and can’t wait to see how the carpet is going to look once it’s been done. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and will talk to you again soon!

If We Were Having Coffee: Another Beach Trip, Another Day in Paradise

If We Were Having Coffee 02

Hello everyone! Wow, it feels like it’s been awhile since I’ve written one of these. Luckily, I actually have a lot to say this time around, partly due to not doing one of these last weekend. But also partly due to having some good news to share along with it. Anyway, I hope you’ve all been having a good weekend so far. I know I have, and I haven’t really done anything since I’ve been awake.

Hmmm… where to start? Okay, I guess I’ll start with what I’ve been up to during the week leading up to going to the beach last weekend. I mostly spent a lot of that time sleeping, reading, watching television, and playing app games on my phone. Seriously, I really didn’t do too much else leading up to when my sister Laney and her boyfriend Lawrence came to the house Thursday night. Though since my last weekend coffee post, I’ve been a very productive reading reviewer. Since my last coffee post, I’ve completed a total of four books, each uniquely different than the previous. I liked each of these books for a variety of different reasons. But I find myself surprised at being able to read this many books in this amount of time. I think part of it is because it’s been awhile since I’ve given myself the chance to really sit down and enjoy reading. And now that summer is here, and I have so much free time, I feel like I can do that. Not that I haven’t enjoyed the time I’ve spent on the books I’ve been reading while I’ve been employed. It’s just that I haven’t quite had as much time to sit and enjoy them, though I’ve definitely made the point in doing so when I was reading them.

Along with reading these four books, I discovered two other games in the App Store that I’ve started playing and enjoying, one of which I’ve actually played before a long time ago but quit because I felt like I couldn’t really do too much with it at the time. The first game I came upon made me chuckle because I was amused by it, but now I’ve become really hooked to it. And that game is called Pokémon Magikarp Jump. It came out last week, actually on the day when I first heard about it so I figured I’d give it a try and see how I’d like it. So far, it’s been very enjoyable and addicting to me. It has some Pokémon nostalgia that really makes it a fun game to play, even though the Pokémon you’re raising is one of the weakest ones in the games. The other one is called The Sims Freeplay, which is pretty much a mobile version of the games out on PC and console. I think part of the reason I stopped playing it the first time was due to it not having as much stuff for you to do. I remember the first time playing it I spent most of the time in my house working on filling my Sim’s needs and not going out in the world to really do anything. But this time around, it seems like there’s more things to do, and I have quests to complete too. I’ve also been making sure to keep the Sims I have busy by sending them away to work or having them compete in a competition because these things take them hours to do in real time. This allows me the chance to do other things while they are increasing their skills and making money, but can also be a hindrance for playing the game. Especially because the Sims games normally don’t have that time feature in them. Usually when you’re having a Sim do something, you can make time go a little faster and be done with it within a couple minutes. You unfortunately don’t have that option in this one, but that’s okay because these things always give me something to look forward to whenever I do go back to check on my characters. While it’s yet to be as much fun as the ones I know and love, I know once I unlock and build more of the town the game will get better for me.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how much fun I had when my sister came to visit us last weekend. On Friday, Laney and Lawrence actually had to put in some hours for work so I for most of the day hung out in the living room playing Pokémon Magikarp Jump and reading. I also got my hair cut short, the pixie cut style I love because I like it so much while Laney had a job interview she had to go to. After all of that, we hung out at home for a little bit before going out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant with the people we love. We continued the night after dinner by buying some wine and beer at Total Wine to enjoy at our house. Then on Saturday, we drove two hours to go to Charleston and Sullivan’s Island. We first stopped by the Charleston Marketplace to see what all they had to offer. We saw a collection of all sorts of different things, from necklaces and jewelry to paintings to spices and even Christmas decorations. Then we drove around Charleston to show Lawrence some of the different homes and historic landscapes before heading to Sullivan’s Island to spend the day on the sandy beach. We also grabbed some barbecue to eat for lunch, which turned out to be really delicious.

I love going to places like this and seeing what they have to offer. I also appreciate that all of this was indoors so we didn’t have to be out in the beating sun for too long.

Along with having my feet play in the sand.

As a family, we’ve actually never gone to Sullivan’s Island before. We’ve been to other beaches before, but this was our first time at this one and it was really nice. It was a beautiful day outside, which was something we hadn’t seen for a little while due to dealing with a lot of rain. The only downside was that it was very windy there so I didn’t do as much laying out in the sun as I’d have liked. But that was okay because I didn’t have to worry as much about getting burned. It was so windy that when I attempted to lie down I struggled because my towel was trying to blow away from me. I also ended up getting sand all over me because the wind was so crazy that it was blowing the sand along the beach. So I ended up going into the water to wash myself off, which proved to be a little difficult since I had sand in places I couldn’t reach. Once again, I enjoyed the feel of the sand between my toes along with the touch of cool ocean water brushing against my legs with the smell of the sea lingering in the air and the wild winds blowing against my face. I felt the sense of peace and tranquility I normally feel when I’m at the beach but it was wilder this time around, like the wind was nowhere near close to slowing down. It was a lot of fun though, despite the harsh winds because I was spending relaxing time with the people I care the most about. After our time on the beach, we went and grabbed some pizza to eat before heading back home. On Sunday, we showed Lawrence downtown, then went and grabbed some ice cream to snack on before heading back to the house. After that, Mum, Laney and Lawrence went to the gym while I took a nap. Once they were home, we started cooking food out on the grill for dinner and invited a friend over to eat and watch some movies we rented. After watching these movies, we then all headed to bed so we could rest and get ready for Monday. On Monday, we woke up early so that Laney and Lawrence could start packing up their things. We then went to Cracker Barrel for one last meal together before Laney and Lawrence headed back to Tennessee. Overall, I enjoyed the time we had together, and it was nice to meet Laney’s boyfriend for the first time.

And that’s pretty much all I have to say besides one more thing. The good news I have to share with you is that I have a job interview coming up on Tuesday. I have a friend that works at a new deli that’s opened up downtown and in several other places, and he’s mentioned my interest to them. So after completing my application, I heard back from them about meeting with them for a job interview. This is exciting/good news because I might finally have a job again so that I can make money while the other place I work at is closed. It sounds like they really need some good people so I’m really hoping this interview works out so I can get started right away. I also hope it works out to where I’ll be working full time or something because then I can leave the company I’m at now, since I’m not happy being there anymore. That place has just gotten so full of drama that I’m ready to be somewhere else where I don’t have to worry about that anymore. So wish me good luck because I feel like I really need it.

I hope you all are having a good weekend so far. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

If We Were Having Coffee: Feeling the Heat

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week. I know I definitely did, with my trip to the beach on Sunday, which I talked about on my last blog post. What I didn’t mention, however, about that trip is the amount of sunburn I received. I got burned pretty badly from our day at the beach. My back, waist and feet received the worst of it, resulting in me keeping things easy this week. Even now, I’m still dealing with some of my burns. Though, they aren’t as bad now as before. They just itch, which means the skin should be peeling off anytime now. But if you want to hear more about my trip (and not just about the sunburns), check out my post titled Weekend Oasis.  I promise you won’t be disappointed because I have a lot to say about the trip.

But that’s not all. If we were having coffee, I’d tell you not only did I go to the beach with my best friend, but I also helped her celebrate her birthday by going with her to the tattoo shop on Monday. There were a couple tattoos she wanted to get so her husband said he’d pay for them as a birthday present. So I went with her when she received her very first tattoos, which both turned out really great. Her first tattoo said “just breathe,” and had the Hakuna Mottata symbol in-between those words, and her second tattoo is a semicolon. It was quite an enjoyable experience. So much so I’m actually considering getting tattoos of my own. I have a pretty good idea of what I want. But I’m not going to say. I’ll save that for when I get them so I can explain why. It was an experience I know I’ll never forget, since my best friend invited me to go with her.

Sunday’s trip to the beach and Monday’s tattoo adventure were the most exciting things that’ve happened recently. Because I didn’t do much else while at home. I mostly worked on letting my sunburns heal, using aloe vera to start the process. Oh, I also continued watching American Horror Story. I’ve finished season three now, have moved onto season four, which is really good too. Though there are times where I’m debating whether I want to continue watching or not. Not because I’m not enjoying it, but because of how weird the show can get. It’s not really a scary show, though there are elements of horror in it that make you want to continue watching to see what happens. But I don’t know, I’ve already invested a lot of time into watching it.

If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you I’ve made some good progress on the coloring book page I’ve been working on. I’m really excited about it because I think it’s really looking nice. I’m excited to see how the whole thing will look by the time I’m done with it. I’ve also been playing Kingdom Hearts Unchained X again on my tablet and Temple Run on my phone. Both games are fun to play, one is nice for killing monsters and unlocking more storyline while the other is enjoyable because you get to go fast and collect coins to unlock more characters and abilities.

Other than that, there really isn’t that much for me to say. I did some job applications most of the day, and Mum and I rented Manchester By the Sea, which was a total bust. The movie focuses on a man named Leo whose brother recently passed away and is left dealing with the aftermath. He’s depressed due to the death of his children in a house fire he feels fully responsible for. The reason this movie is a bust is because it drags on. There’s no reason or purpose for some of the events that follow, and the characters are not likeable due to lack of character development. The only thing I like about Manchester By the Sea is the setting, which the directors of the film do a good job at showing off. It’s a beautiful location for the movie, and I wish I could see more of it. Otherwise, the whole movie is completely depressing, and I found myself wishing we never watched it.

Next Saturday, I’ll be doing the Great Strides walk with Erin, and I may not do one of these posts, depending on how I feel. I hope you’re all having a good weekend. Can’t wait to talk to you next time!

Weekend Oasis

There’s a very good reason why I didn’t make a #weekendcoffeeshare post this past weekend. It’s because this past weekend (well technically Monday) was my best friend’s birthday. She had a party Saturday night then I went to the beach with her and another friend Sunday.

These beach plans were made days before the party when Erin told us she wanted to do a girl’s night on Sunday. It turned from being a girl’s night to going to the beach because a friend asked Erin if she wanted to go to the lake or the beach. Erin really loves the beach (as do I) so it became clear when that question was asked what we were going to do.

But before talking about the beach trip and showing off all the nice pictures I took, let’s briefly talk about the party on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Erin decided to give the party a black and gold theme so I wore a black shirt along with some golden earrings, shoes and a wristlet my aunt gave to me for Christmas. We all sat around, talked and drank. I made sure not to get too buzzed because of making plans to go to the beach with Erin and another friend on Sunday. I knew it wouldn’t be fun going to the beach with a hangover so I just drank fruity drinks with a 5 percent alcoholic volume and took baby sips of Fireball and a Moonshine a friend and I bought as Erin’s birthday present. When the party finally quieted down, I attempted sleep because I was pretty tired, and knew we were getting up early for our trip to the beach.

But sleep was hard to come due to my excitement for our day at the beach. I was really excited about this trip. I love the beach a lot, and I normally go to the beach with family, not friends. I’ve never actually done something like this before, gone on a full day trip with friends. And we were going to the beach of all places, one of my favorite places to go to when the weather is nice. So sleep was hard to come by for me that night, even knowing I’d be getting up at a time that doesn’t agree with me at all.

But Sunday was perfect. Despite the time I went to bed, I didn’t feel worn out because I was too excited about this trip to care. Erin and I left for the beach, following Karie in her sister’s car who she was taking to her parent’s house along the way to our destination. While driving, Erin turned up her music, and we belted the lyrics to the songs that came on and talked until we arrived at Karie’s parents home. We used that time to take a potty break before Karie drove us the rest of the way to Isle of Palms.

Once there, we grabbed our stuff out of the car and walked to the beach. We found a spot to place our belongings and began the process of unpacking our things. I then applied some sunscreen (not that it really helped, which I’ll talk about later) before lying down on the beach.

In that moment as I laid down and closed my eyes, a sense of peace washed over me. I could hear all the sounds of the ocean surrounding me, from the sounds of the waves crashing along the shore to the birds flying above, calling each other in birdsong. I felt the wind brushing up and down my body and smelled the salty air of sand and sea as I laid there and let the sun wash over me. I felt a sense of tranquility hard to describe in words, but that I knew would encompass this moment I was on the beach in my heart. I knew this moment would eventually pass, but I just allowed myself time to enjoy it.

After a little bit of lying down, we went in the water to cool down and let the waves wash over us. We went a little far out, but I didn’t go quite as far because my bottoms wanting to fall off me. It was as if they wanted to expose my butt to the rest of the world, which sounds pretty comical when you think about it. But I stayed in the water anyway, and adjusted my bikini bottom straps in the hope that my bottoms would stay on me. Though there were a couple close calls in that moment so I eventually got out of the water and went back to our spot on the beach. Karie and Erin both got out of the water shortly after to dry off before we went walking on the beach to search for some seashells.

It was nice to walk along the beach together, looking along the ground for shells. We stuck together, watching our footprints in the sand, and observing the carcasses of the dead jellyfish and crabs we saw along the way. I saw some nice shells on our path, but didn’t take too many because I didn’t really have a safe place to put them for the trip back. My favorite shell actually broke into three pieces, so I had to throw it away when I got home, which was a bummer.
My picture of the seashells I got at the beach Sunday. Decided to put them on my bookshelf in my room because I knew they’d look nice there.

We eventually headed back to our spot on the beach when we got tired of walking. We also were starting to get hungry so we used this moment to grab some food before continuing to enjoy our time on the beach. I ate a double cheeseburger with fries and Coke, which tasted delicious, though the fries would’ve tasted better if they had Ketchup. Once we were done with our food, we headed back to enjoy what little time we had left. Once again, we laid down on the beach to get more sun, then went in the water one last time. The water didn’t feel quite as cold as when we went in earlier, which was nice.

Moments later, we got out of the water and went back to our stuff. I quickly dried myself off before packing everything together and headed back to Karie’s car. We put our stuff in her trunk and covered the seats we’d be sitting on in her car with towels. But we didn’t leave right away because we decided to explore some of the shops near the beach, and then grab some ice cream before heading home. It was apparent we all were enjoying our time at the beach, and didn’t want to leave because we took our time in the shops, looking at all the stuff they had and commenting on items we thought were cute or were possibly interested in buying. All three of us ended up buying something at the very last store we went into. I bought myself this really pretty green/emerald colored necklace that caught my attention with its beauty. It was also very inexpensive, something I could easily afford with the money I had on me.

Once we were done buying our purchases, we went searching for somewhere to get ourselves some ice cream. We ended up driving to Sonic because the places we originally wanted to go to were either too expensive or out of business and bought milkshakes. Then, we headed home in silence because we were all tired by this point.

It was quite an enjoyable trip. One of the best trips I’ve had in my life, a moment in time with friends I know I’ll hold in my memories for the rest of my life. Probably one of the best trips I’ve taken to the beach and that I know I’ll never forget.

The only downside from this trip I’ve experienced is that I badly gotten sunburned. Everywhere except for my arms, shoulders, and the parts of my body covered by my bikini have been stung by the sun’s rays. It’s to the point where I’ve been putting on sunburn relief in the hopes of getting the burns to slowly fade away. Hopefully, I can get these burns to go away so my body doesn’t ache every time I move. But right now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

If We Were Having Coffee: End of 2017 Spring Semester, Let Summer Begin!

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing alright wherever you are. Right now, I’m doing really well. The Spring Semester at my Alma Mater has almost ended for the students. They just have exams next week, then they are officially done. But for me, I’m done working there for the semester. Just finished working a cookout they were having today a couple hours ago, and that’s it for now. I won’t be there next week because I’m not on the schedule so I’m officially done for the semester. Hopefully it’ll be my last semester there if I’m able to get a job this summer. Will just have to wait and see if that happens for now.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you for these posts, I want to use more interesting coffee pictures. Pictures like the one I have above that have a lot of color and can catch your attention. I think these pictures would really make my blog stand out, and would look nice with my background. I won’t know exactly what that’ll look like until I’m looking, So you’ll just have to wait and see.

I know this is a #weekendcoffeepost, but I felt like briefly bringing up the infamous Unicorn Frappuccino everyone seems to be talking about. I don’t know how it’s made, because I don’t work at a Starbucks (though I know how to make Starbucks drinks because at work in our café, we have Starbucks products), but I felt like talking about it. I don’t know if it’s any good because honestly it looks like a heart attack. I’m not saying it doesn’t look good (because it kind of does), but pink isn’t my color. It’s definitely an interesting looking drink and I’m actually curious about how they make it more than anything else along with what it tastes like. Though I’m not curious enough to spend my money on one if I’m ever given the chance to do so.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I have some bad news. It looks like I will have to buy myself a new laptop. Originally, I was going to get one, but decided to have it looked at to see if the part could be fixed so that I could save my money. But it looks like I’ll have to get a new one because the part I’ll need fixed will cost just as much as getting a new laptop. So that’s kind of a bummer. But at the same time, it’s kind of exciting too because it’ll be brand new and there are so many different ones out there I can check out.

Speaking of which, I’m also thinking about changing my blog name this summer. I have an idea of what I might change it to, but I still haven’t decided yet if that’s what I’m going to do. I figure I should though because my blog name isn’t actually that good. Kind of silly, honestly, though at the time I really thought it was a good idea. Just thought I’d let you all know before I do, even though when I do I’m going to write a blog post about it so you know. And since I’m not working right now, I’ll definitely be writing more posts again. I know my 2 year blog anniversary will be coming up within the next couple months so I’ll be writing about that along with whatever other fresh ideas decide to pop into my head this summer.

I think that’s really all I have to say now. Oh yeah, I’ve also been coloring more often too. I find it to be very comforting to do before bed and it’s just such an enjoyable hobby that I can’t help it. I’ve also started reading All the Rage and Mum and I are planning on going to see Hidden Figures tonight and the new Beauty & the Beast movie tomorrow. I’ll probably do a movie review of a tale as old as time too because it’s one of my favorite Disney movies from my childhood so I definitely want to talk about the new adaptation after I’ve seen it.

Okay, now I’m done. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and continue to have a good weekend.

If We Were Having Coffee: It Feels Like I’m Playing Catch Up

Hello everyone and Happy Easter! It feels like I’m playing catch up with these #weekendcoffeeshare posts because it’s been awhile since my last one. I would say this is accidental if it weren’t that I honestly just didn’t feel like doing one of these posts these last couple weeks. I don’t think making excuses for myself will change that truth for me so I figure I might as well be honest about it. But I’m back with this post and hopefully I’ll continue to do more of them in the months to come. But for now, I’ll try and see if I can catch you up to speed with what’s been going on in my life.

If we were having coffee, the first thing I’d probably tell you is we’ve been watching friends of ours pets lately. We watched someone my Mom knows dog and cat a couple weekends ago and are now cat sitting for another friend. So far, we’ve gotten along with all of them and there haven’t been too many problems. I just recently spent the night with the two cats, one of which slept on top of me and was demanding my affections.

Look at that sweet boy. How could you say no to that face?

The other cat is more guarded around people, but he’s just as sweet. But it was nice spending the night with them so that they could have someone around to take care of them. It was also very quiet and peaceful in their house, which was also nice because it allowed me to finish one of my coloring pages and start on another.

I really love the way this page turned out for me.

I really love coloring. It’s very peaceful, a nice way for me to relax and do something stress free. It also makes me feel like I’ve really accomplished something, even if it’s just filling another blank page to life.

Speaking of which, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’ve been working on writing more in my journal. Right now, I’m trying to write in it once or twice a week, whenever the need calls for it. I think this is pretty realistic because I know there are going to be times I want to write, but not want to post on here. But right now, we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. I know I’m currently optimistic about it because I really believe I can do it. I’ve also been working on a poem too, which is currently called “Forgiveness.” I’m not sure if I’m done with it yet, but once I am, I’ll be publishing it here for you all to read.

I’ve also recently watched Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix, which was released March 31st and wrote a review about it. I’ve actually watched it twice since it’s release, because I enjoyed it so much I had to see it again. I even got my best friend to watch it and am letting her borrow my copy of the book now that she’s watched the show. I’ve also recently finished reading Wintergirls and am now planning on reading All the Rage, which I’m hoping will be a much better read. After finishing Thirteen Reasons Why, I’m now watching American Horror Story to see what it’s like. So far, it’s interesting, to say the least. But I haven’t made an overall opinion of it just yet.

If we were having coffee, I’d briefly talk about work. I’d tell you it’s gotten somewhat better for me. Knowing I only have one week, then it’s summer makes me happy. It means I’ll be able to work on improving my resume and hopefully get a job in my field very soon. I’ll also have more free time to write and doing other things I love. So knowing after this week I’ll get a little bit of a break makes me feel good about what’s left of work. Also, the job I was interested in at work, someone else was interested in it and talked about it before I could so the position has already been filled. But I’m actually glad someone else is doing it because I would still be at this place.

Other than that, nothing else has been going on. Tomorrow is Easter. I’ll be celebrating by going to Sunrise Service with a friend at 7, then later going to dinner at a friend’s house. I hope you all have a good Easter with your loved ones.

If We Were Having Coffee: The Hours Pass Quickly on Daylight Savings

Woah, it’s been awhile since I’ve done another one of these. Sorry for that, by the way. It’s because I didn’t feel like I had a lot to say. I haven’t really been quite as productive lately, due to being off from work because of Spring Break. But after this week, I feel like I can feel you in a little about what I’ve been up to since I last did one of these posts.

So a couple Sundays ago (I want to say it was the weekend before last week, but not entirely sure), I went to Dreher Island State Park with a friend. We walked around, spent the day there and just had a really good time. I’ll put up some of my pictures below of the trip so you can see some of what I experienced.

This was probably one of my favorite parks to go to along with the other park I went to many weekends ago where I took quite a bit of photos. There was just quite a bit to see at Dreher, and I wanted to share a lot of the photos I took from that trip before I really get started because I enjoyed a lot of the park I captured in these photos. It’s definitely a place I’ll want to visit again soon.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you my Spring Break was actually pretty boring. I was mostly at home, hanging around the house. Though I did start picking up Okamiden to play again, hoping to finally beat it after all this time I spent away from it. I also have continued watching Criminal Minds, though I’m sad to announce I’m on the last season of the show that can be found on Netflix. Daylight savings also occurred on my last day at home before I started to work on Monday. I didn’t even realize it was daylight savings until later, but it made sense to me because it felt like Spring Break went by so slow for me until the end. But with my last day off came an unexpected snow that while it didn’t stick was quite a beauty to behold.

While I knew the snow wouldn’t last, it was a nice beginning to my last morning at home.

If we were having coffee, I’d also mention I started this new wonderful book series while I was at home called The Lying Game. I know you all already know about it, since I’ve posted my reviews of the books in the series I’ve read so far and quite a few of you liked them. It’s been quite an enjoyable read for me, which completely surprised me. When I first started reading the books, I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy them. But since reading past the first one, I’m happy to say I’ve been enjoying what I’ve read of them so far. I know I still have two more books in the series left to read, which I haven’t had the chance to do since returning to work, but I’m really looking forward to them and seeing how the author ends the series.

Speaking of work, one of our co-workers had a job interview this week and it sounds like she’s been offered the position. This means now her position will be available and while it’s not exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life, I might consider looking into it. But I think before I do that I want to talk to her when I go into work this week and find out more about it. Because if it’s a full time position and I can work during the summer, I just might consider it. I need a job this summer and if this job is something I can do where I make more money, why not try it and see? But first, I need to talk to her first and get the answers I need before doing anything at all about it.

Before I’m done with this post, I’d like to quickly thank everyone who reads/follows my blog. Earlier in the week, my blog reached up to 100 followers, which is something I take pride in. I know when I first started this blog, I wasn’t completely sure how I was going to go about creating it. I had a very basic idea of what I wanted to write about, but no exact plans of how I was going to make it all a reality. Now, I feel like everything has fallen into place and it’s become more than I expected from it. In many ways, I feel like I’ve created a home here on WordPress, made out of words waiting to be shared with like minded and welcoming individuals. Since being here, I’ve received nothing but kind words and acceptance from those who’ve commented on my posts and those whose blogs I’ve enjoyed. And I always find myself inspired to continue writing on here even on my darkest of days.

And it’s all thanks to you. Because as long as someone reads my work and enjoys what they see, I want to continue writing. So thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to read my blog. Your welcome to come back anytime and leave a comment too, if you’d like. I promise I won’t bite.

But now I think it’s time for me to go. I really have nothing new to say and should probably be getting ready for the St. Patrick’s Day party I’ll be going to at 6:30. But I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and chat with you soon!

If We Were Having Coffee: Recovering From the Spring

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a good day today. I know I haven’t made a coffee post in awhile. I’m sorry about that. I actually got sick so I’ve been doing the best to recover before writing another one of these. I hope all of you are doing well today.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’ve been quite the busy girl before I’d gotten sick. The weekend before I was sick, I went to a park with one of my friends. It was really nice, a perfect day to be outside and walk around. I think we walked two miles or so while we were there and it was a park we hadn’t gone to together before. It was nice though, one of the national parks in our area. I actually took quite a bit of pictures, some of which I’ll include below.

In this picture, you can see some of the seating areas, along with the tree’s reflection through the water.

This picture is probably one of my favorites of the little stream we passed as we walked.

I really like this picture because you can see the sun shining through the trees.

When we were there, I was joking with my friend about trying one of these canoes out. But he told me there was no way he was going to get into one of them.

While these aren’t necessarily all of the pictures I’d taken while we were there, they are some of my best shots that I really enjoyed taking. This park was just such a beautiful sight to see and I can’t wait to go there again and take some more amazing pictures and walk among all the trees.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that even though I’ve been sick, I’ve still managed to keep myself busy. I’ve mostly been at work, but when I wasn’t working, I was at home, reading or getting back into watching Criminal Minds again. I also had the amazing opportunity to go to Dave & Buster’s for Valentine’s Day, which was quite a lot of fun.

The books I’ve read since I last did one of these posts are Crown of Midnight, the second book in the Throne of Glass series and The Girl On the Train. I just started reading The Lying Game on Friday, which so far is an okay read. I’ll talk more about it on here once I’ve finished reading it completely.

Other than that, I really haven’t been up to too much. Spring is finally upon us, which is probably why I wasn’t feeling quite so well for the past week. Luckily, I’m doing much better now so I can actually get back to doing some more writing in the near future. Also, this upcoming week is Spring Break at my college, which means I don’t have work this upcoming week! So I’m really excited to have a break from there. Trust me, it’s really much needed.

Speaking of which, before I end this post, I have something exciting to share with you. One of my friends from college, who also has a WordPress blog I follow, has asked me to write a post for her blog. On her blog, she talks about psychology related stuff, with a focus on mental health. So with the post I’m doing for her blog, I decided to focus on my own mental illness journey and how reading has played an important role in it. With this post, I’ll be talking about a lot of personal stuff that I haven’t shared with any of you, but that has had a major impact on my life. It’s stuff I usually have a hard time talking about, but I’ve lately found myself more open to talk about lately. Anyway, she’s going to be posting it on her blog Tuesday, which when she does I’ll write my own post here about it. But if your curious and want to check out her blog, here is the link to it. She has a lot of good information regarding mental health so I highly recommend checking her out whenever you get the chance.

Other than that, there really isn’t too much more left for me to say. I just returned home from a baby shower a couple minutes ago. One of my Mom’s friends adopted a baby completely out of the blue so we wanted to be at the shower to congratulate her and wish her well. But that’s petty much it for me. I hope you all are doing well today and having a fabulous weekend so far. I know I’m definitely looking forward to this time off.
